Lake Chalet

The existing chalet

A larch and stone chalet on the shore of an Engadine lake, in poor condition but full of character. The owners wanted to keep its spirit and open it towards the water and the peaks.

Restoration and extension

The original timber structure was repaired and insulated, and the stone base consolidated. A low larch extension, set slightly back, adds a kitchen and a living room with a wide window onto the lake.

Inside, every room was replanned around a view — of the water, the forest or the summits.
